Dow Gains 100 Points; ISM Services PMI Falls In September

U.S. stocks traded higher midway through trading, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 100 points on Monday.

The Dow traded up 0.20% to 51,277.22 while the NASDAQ jumped 0.84% to 27,418.49. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.62% to 7,770.45.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Materials shares jumped by 1.2% on Monday.

In trading on Monday, real estate stocks fell by 0.1%.

Top Headline

The ISM services PMI declined to 54.9 in September from 55.4 in the previous month, compared to market estimates of 55.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Columbus Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:SAIQ) shares shot up 286% to $7.14. On Friday, WISeQey Corp.’s subsidiary WISeSat.Space disclosed the completion of its previously announced business combination (reverse SPAC merger) with Columbus Acquisition Corp. (CAC) on Oct. 1, 2026.
  • Shares of Vaxcyte, Inc. (NASDAQ:PCVX) got a boost, surging 40% to $79.00 after the company announced positive topline results from its pivotal Phase 3 OPUS-1 trial evaluating VAX-31, an investigational 31-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine.
  • HeartBeam, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAT) shares were also up, gaining 70% to $0.7370 after the company received FDA breakthrough device designation for heart attack assessment.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Camping World Holdings Inc (NYSE:CWH) shares dipped 10% to $4.52. Camping World expects FY26 adjusted EBITDA to be below the low end of its previously communicated guidance range of $230 million-$270 million.
  • Shares of CH Robinson Worldwide Inc (NASDAQ:CHRW) were down 11% to $140.19 after the company announced it will acquire RXO.
  • Flux Power Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:FLUX) was down, falling 23% to $0.4899. Solidion Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:STI) responded to the decision of the board of Flux Power to reject Solidion’s previously announced acquisition proposal.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 1% to $90.17 while gold traded up 0.1% at $4,164.60.

Silver traded up 1.8% to $61.515 on Monday, while copper rose 1% to $6.6130.

Euro zone

European shares were mostly higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 gained 0.2%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.7%, London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.1%, Germany’s DAX climbed 0.1%, while France’s CAC 40 fell 1.1%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed higher on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 surging 2.40%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gaining 0.28% and India’s BSE Sensex rising 0.66%.

Economics

  • The S&P Global services PMI climbed to 58.8 in September from 56.5 in the previous month, revised higher from the flash reading of 58.7.
  • The S&P Global composite PMI surged to 58.4 in September from 56 in August, matching the preliminary reading.
  • The ISM services PMI declined to 54.9 in September from 55.4 in the previous month, compared to market estimates of 55.
