UK Appoints Six Banks for Digital Gilt Instrument Issuance by Q1 2027

09:23 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK government appointed six lenders as joint lead managers for the pilot issuance of the country's digital gilt instruments, expected to occur by the first quarter of 2027. Barclays (BARC.L), HSBC Holdings (HSBA.L), Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY.L), Morgan Stanley, NatWest Group (NWG.L), and RBC Capital Markets will provide services such as underwriting, supporting investor engagement, and distributing digital gilts, according to a Tuesday release by the UK Treasury. The appointment of the lead managers follows a procurement process.
