One firm believes shares are sitting in the bargain bin

Upgrading it from neutral to overweight, JPMorgan assigned a $19 price target to Corteva stock today. Based on yesterday's closing price of $12.39, the $19 price target implies 53.3% upside.

According to Thefly.com, JPMorgan took the bullish stance on Corteva stock, believing that it's now undervalued following the Oct. 1 spinoff of the company's advanced seed and genetics business.

Building on several years of success in its crop protection business, Corteva believes it's well-positioned for future growth, now that it's no longer focused on the advanced seed and genetics business. From 2020 through 2025, for example, Corteva's crop protection business grew sales by over $1 billion while expanding segment-level operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margins by about 250 basis points.

Is now the time to plant Corteva stock in your portfolio?

While JPMorgan believes that Corteva stock has ample room to run, prospective investors should take this outlook with a grain of salt, remembering that this is merely one firm's opinion -- not a guarantee that the stock will, in fact, soar. A better course of action at this point is to check in on what the company said in early November, when it reports third-quarter 2026 financial results, to see how things are proceeding following the spinoff of the advanced seed business. In the meantime, there are plenty of other agriculture stocks to consider.
