On a per-share basis, the Rochester, New York-based company said it had net income of $3.32. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $3.74 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.62 per share.

The wine, liquor and beer company posted revenue of $2.82 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $2.63 billion, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.57 billion.

Constellation Brands expects full-year earnings in the range of $11.20 to $11.90 per share.
