Simplify Asset Management launched the Simplify Brookwood Global Macro ETF (NYSE:GMAC) on Tuesday, giving investors access to a flexible global macro strategy spanning commodities, energy, metals and mining, agriculture, industrials, utilities, real estate and alternative strategies.

Sub-advised by Brookwood Investment Group, GMAC can take long or short positions and adjust exposure based on inflation, interest rates, monetary policy, regulation and geopolitical conditions. The ETF will primarily gain exposure through other ETFs, including affiliated funds, and swaps.

Simply put, the strategy is designed as a liquid alternatives building block for investors looking beyond the traditional 60/40 portfolio.

QUICK CONTEXT: Global Macro Comes To ETFs

Global macro strategies typically seek to capitalize on broad economic and market trends rather than remain tied to a single asset class. GMAC brings that approach into an ETF wrapper, allowing investors to access multiple strategies and asset classes through one fund.

The fund’s flexibility could be particularly relevant in markets being driven by shifting interest-rate expectations, inflation, monetary policy and geopolitical developments. Rather than maintaining fixed allocations, GMAC can move between asset classes and use both long and short positions as Brookwood identifies opportunities.

The ETF’s use of underlying ETFs and swaps also gives it a relatively broad toolkit without requiring investors to build separate positions across commodities, equities, real assets and alternative strategies.

Simplify described GMAC as a potential foundational allocation for liquid alternatives, positioning it as an option for investors seeking diversification beyond traditional stocks and bonds.
