02:51 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's Office of Rail and Road rejected applications from three operators to introduce new train services on the West Coast Main Line, citing concerns that it would increase delays and cancelled trains for passengers. The Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway Co. requested to add new services between London Euston and Wrexham, and between Rochdale and Blackpool, while Avanti West Coast applied for additional services between Blackpool and Euston, according to a Thursday filing. Lumo applied for up to four return services between Rochdale and Euston. The regulator concluded that the service additions could cause capacity constraints and delays for passengers following detailed and extensive analysis and an external review.
