The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission will host a plenary meeting of the Issuer Accounting, Audit and Disclosure Committee (Committee) of the International Securities Regulatory Commission (IOSCO) in Hong Kong from October 5 to 8, 2026.
The four-day conference, which was held under the auspices of the Committee (including meetings of its subcommittees), brought together more than 35 senior personnel and representatives from 21 securities regulators around the world. Participants exchanged views on a range of regulatory and market issues, including modernizing disclosure requirements to reduce the reporting burden on listed companies, and recent developments in financial reporting and auditing. They also discussed emerging issues affecting the open stock market, including the application of technology and artificial intelligence, and private equity investment in audit firms.
Ms. Choi Fung-yee, Executive Director of the Corporate Finance Department of the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission, said that the conference confirmed Hong Kong's leading position as an international financial center and Hong Kong's determination to promote international regulatory cooperation.
Ms. Choi said, “Quality corporate disclosure, financial reporting and assurance are essential to enhance investor confidence and promote effective capital formation. As global capital markets continue to evolve and become more closely linked, cross-border regulatory cooperation is becoming more important in promoting market transparency, fairness and efficiency, and even addressing common regulatory challenges.”
