Update: NatWest Proposes to Exit European, US Primary Dealership Programs

07:08 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with NatWest's statement) NatWest Group (NWG.L) is proposing to exit European and US primary dealership programs following a review of its Markets business, a spokesperson for the bank told MT Newswires on Thursday. "The US and Europe remain important markets for NatWest, and these changes will allow us to focus resources on areas where we can deliver the greatest value for customers and support future growth," a NatWest spokesperson added. Bloomberg News first reported on the bank's plan to stop primary dealings in the two government bond markets, with up to 10 job cuts expected. The report said NatWest will continue to be a primary dealer in the UK bond market.
