07:50 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- London's High Court refused to let claimants appeal against its ruling in a trial against carmakers including Renault (RNO.PA), Mercedes-Benz Group (MBG.F) and Stellantis (STLAM.MI, STLAP.PA) over diesel emissions, Reuters reported Thursday. Judge Sara Cockerill, who ruled broadly in favor of the carmakers in July, said the claimants would have to apply directly to the Court of Appeal, according to the report. Cockerill rejected most allegations that vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Stellantis, Ford and Nissan were fitted with unlawful "defeat devices" that lifted emissions, in a trial related to 13 groups of lawsuits by 1.6 million claimants.
