KUALA LUMPUR: PTT Synergy Group Bhd and Koperasi Kakitangan Bank Rakyat Bhd (Sekatarakyat) have commenced development of the Sekata E-Logistics Park in Pontian, Johor, comprising five single- storey industrial warehouse units.

In a joint statement, the companies said the project followed agreements signed in August 2026 and was expected to support businesses serving the local and Singapore markets.

The development is located within the broader economic corridor associated with the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), which was formalised by Malaysia and Singapore in January 2025.

PTT executive chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said southern Johor was well positioned to support businesses serving the Singapore market, particularly those requiring efficient inventory management and cross-border logistics services.

“Southern Johor is well positioned to support businesses serving the Singapore market. By positioning inventory closer to the market, businesses can respond faster to demand and improve supply chain efficiency,” he said.

He said the groundbreaking marked the commencement of an investment aimed at supporting businesses and economic activities in Pontian.

Sekatarakyat chairman Datuk Mustafha Abd Razak said the development was expected to create business opportunities, employment and supporting economic activities in Pontian and surrounding communities.

“Pontian’s strategic location within southern Johor presents an opportunity to expand its economic role and participate in the region’s growing industrial and logistics activities,” he said.

The companies said the development would incorporate rainwater harvesting systems and electric vehicle charging facilities.

The Sekata E-Logistics Park brings together PTT’s experience in earthworks, infrastructure delivery, industrial development execution and warehouse solutions with Sekatarakyat’s long-term investment perspective.

The companies said the project represented another step towards strengthening southern Johor’s industrial and logistics ecosystem, while creating a platform for businesses to participate in the growing Malaysia-Singapore supply chain.
