State Councilor Chen Yiqin met with the Chinese sports delegation from the 20th Asian Games in Beijing on the 9th to convey warm congratulations and cordial condolences from the Party Central Committee and the State Council to all the athletes, coaches and staff, stressing the need to keep General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions in mind, stop being arrogant, and make further efforts to solidly push forward preparations for the Los Angeles Olympics. Chen Yiqin pointed out that at this year's Asian Games, the Chinese sports delegation achieved the best results in participating in the Asian Games outside of China, and achieved a double harvest of sporting achievements and spiritual civilization. It showed the red feeling of winning for the country, the belief in victory through tenacity and hard work, the spirit of unity to fight side by side, the confident and optimistic youth style, and the moral culture of fair competition, and won honors for the motherland and people. In the new journey, I hope everyone will stick to the supremacy of the motherland, summarize successful experiences, find shortcomings and weaknesses, get down to earth and forge ahead, successfully complete the task of preparing for the Los Angeles Olympics, and further consolidate China's position as an Olympic powerhouse. Chen Yiqin stressed that the sports front should thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on sports work, strengthen organizational coordination and service guarantees, reform and improve the competitive sports management system and operation mechanism, speed up the training of reserve talents, improve the comprehensive strength of competitive sports, strictly rectify chaos such as the “food circle” according to law, and speed up the pace of building a strong sports nation.
