What's Going On With Broadcom Stock Friday?

Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) stock is trading higher during Friday’s premarket session as semiconductor and large-cap technology stocks gain amid improving broader market sentiment.

Nasdaq futures rose 0.92%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.48%, reflecting stronger investor appetite for technology stocks.

AI Networking Innovations

Separately, Broadcom announced Thursday that it will showcase its latest AI networking technologies at the 2026 Open Compute Project Global Summit in San Jose, California, from Oct. 12-15.

The company will highlight its Tomahawk 6, Tomahawk Ultra and Jericho 4 Ethernet switches, alongside Thor Ultra 800G and Thor 2 400G network interface cards.

Broadcom will also feature its third-generation TH6-Davisson Co-Packaged Optics technology.

These products aim to increase bandwidth, improve connectivity and reduce energy consumption as demand for AI infrastructure grows.

In addition, Broadcom plans to demonstrate networking solutions designed to support AI clusters with more than 100,000 accelerators.

The company will collaborate with more than 15 partners, including Celestica, Delta Electronics and Alpha Networks, to showcase its AI infrastructure technologies.

Technical Analysis: Key Levels To Watch

At $365.60, Broadcom shares are trading above their 20-day simple moving average (SMA) of $355.27. However, the stock remains below its 50-day SMA of $372.39 and 100-day SMA of $384.40.

This suggests improving short-term momentum, although the stock has yet to regain its intermediate-term trend.

The relative strength index (RSI) stands at 50.30, indicating neutral momentum.

Meanwhile, the 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA, signaling near-term weakness. However, the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA, supporting a more favorable longer-term outlook.

  • Key Resistance: $376.50, near the 50-day moving average.
  • Key Support: $343, a previous area of buying interest.

Analyst Outlook

Broadcom carries a consensus Buy rating, with an average analyst price forecast of $518.96.

Piper Sandler initiated coverage with an Overweight rating and a $460 price forecast on Sept. 10. Citigroup maintained its Buy rating and raised its forecast to $515 on Sept. 4. Meanwhile, D.A. Davidson maintained a Neutral rating and lowered its forecast to $350 the same day.

The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 45.9, reflecting a premium valuation.

Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXQ) has an 8.87% weighting, while MicroSectors FANG+ Index 3X Leveraged ETN (NYSE:FNGU) has a 9.97% weighting. Pacer Data and Digital Revolution ETF (NYSE:TRFK) holds a 9.42% weighting.
