11:48 AM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Germany's blue-chip DAX index closed the last trading day of the week 1.19% in the green after US President Donald Trump said the government will not launch military strikes against Iran ahead of the November midterm elections. On the Iranian side, Deutsche Bank Research noted reports that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed Tehran is reviewing a US proposal, with a response expected in the next few days. "So both sides acknowledged that talks were happening, which took some of the pressure off oil prices into the close. Yet even with that, the negative headlines still won out yesterday, and it was clear investors were pricing a longer period of disruption into next year. Indeed, the December 2027 Brent future (+1.24%) hit a new high yesterday of $83.84/bbl, and other asset classes have also repriced as investors expect higher oil prices to persist," the research firm said. Meanwhile, China and the European Union held their second Trade and Investment Consultations in Beijing, agreeing to continue working toward a "more balanced" bilateral trade relationship and reaching an "understanding" on trade in hybrid vehicles in a World Trade Organization-compliant manner. In corporate news, the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, or BaFin, extended Deutsche Bank's (DBK.F) deadlines to fix data processing deficiencies in its systems for detecting money laundering and terrorist financing. The regulatory order updates earlier directives from April 2021 and November 2023, citing shifting technical requirements during the ongoing overhaul of the bank's transaction monitoring systems. The German lender was up 1.11% at Friday's close. Meanwhile, RBC Capital Markets upgraded its rating on Heidelberg Materials (HEI.F) to outperform from sector perform, with a price target of 211 euros, noting the German building materials company's recent "significant" de-rating. "CBAM is working, we suspect that the Transformation Accelerator is about to select another higher gear and in the long run we believe the lowest carbon player will win," RBC wrote. Heidelberg Materials climbed 1.86%.
