12:44 AM EDT, 10/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Amsterdam Enterprise Chamber rejected investors' calls to launch an investigation into Royal Philips (PHIA.AS) following the 2021 recall of ventilators and sleep apnea devices manufactured by its US subsidiary Respironics, according to an Oct. 10 release. The recall was triggered by health risks linked to the PE-PUR foam in the devices, and Philips shares fell sharply afterward. Investor association VEB and other investors argued that Philips failed in its duty to oversee its Respironics subsidiary, which delayed identifying and handling the devices' problems. The Dutch court said it found no valid grounds to doubt Philips' management, governance, or systems that would justify an investigation. It also found that reliable evidence of the foam's health risks only emerged in early 2021. The company welcomed the Enterprise Chamber's decision, saying it remains focused on patients and customers while executing its plan to accelerate profitable growth.
