02:35 AM EDT, 10/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Atalaya Mining Copper (ATYM.L) secured the European Commission's strategic project designation for the Proyecto Touro copper project in Galicia, Spain, under the European Union's Critical Raw Materials Act. The strategic project status indicates Proyecto Touro's importance to Europe's secure and sustainable copper supply, the copper miner said Monday. Xunta de Galicia, Galicia's regional government, had already declared the asset a strategic industrial project in 2024.
