On October 12, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference. A reporter asked if China has already sanctioned two ministers from Paraguay and Belize. Is this the first time that similar measures have been taken against officials from countries that maintain relations with Taiwan? Mao Ning said that China will take all necessary punitive measures against those who stubbornly support “Taiwan independence” separatist forces and resolutely uphold the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We also urge the Taiwan authorities, which have few remaining so-called “countries with diplomatic ties,” not to be repeatedly manipulated and used by “Taiwan independence” separatist forces and tied to “Taiwan independence” forces. They have no future; they will only miss out on development opportunities and be isolated from the international community.
