05:16 AM EDT, 10/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Volkswagen's (VOW.F) global vehicle deliveries fell 14.3% year over year in the third quarter, weighed down by a steep decline in demand in China. The German carmaker delivered 1,885,300 vehicles across all drive types in the three months ended Sept. 30, down from 2,198,900 units a year ago, according to a Monday release. Deliveries of all-electric vehicles dropped 4.7% to 240,200 units during the reporting period. China recorded the steepest regional decline, with deliveries plunging 38.5%. Deliveries fell 12.4% in the rest of Asia-Pacific, 10% in the Middle East and Africa region, and 5.8% in North America. Western Europe, which accounts for the company's biggest market, was also down 2.8%. "The sharp decline in the overall market in China remains an industry-wide challenge," Martin Sander, member of the company's extended executive committee for sales. "At the same time, our new, locally developed electric models are beginning to make an impact. Compared to the same quarter last year, we delivered approximately 30 percent more electrified vehicles to our customers in China in Q3." Global deliveries for the first nine months of 2026 came in at 6,011,000 vehicles, down 9% year over year. Of the total, deliveries in China plunged 30.2% to 1,378,800 vehicles. The company's shares were up more than 1% during early trading in Frankfurt.
