ASML.US (ASML.US) targets high-margin “stock businesses”! It is proposed to increase the price of parts for Samsung and SK Hynix lithography machines by 10%

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to reports, ASML.US (ASML.US) will increase the price of replacement parts supplied to Korean customers for their extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography systems by 10%. The report said that after negotiations with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, the new prices will apply to parts delivered from January 2027.

Driven by increased investment in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and the expansion of semiconductor production capacity, continued growth in demand for equipment and components has increased the pressure on suppliers. This price increase covers consumables and major components used for equipment maintenance, marking Asma's rare overall price increase for various related components. An industry insider said, “The prices of the various components that make up these components have generally risen, but it seems that Asmack is also seeking a larger share of the profits obtained by customers.”

Installed Base Management (Installed Base Management), which includes after-sales service, spare parts replacement, software upgrades, and performance improvement services, is a very important recurring business, because its profit margin may be higher than that of the new equipment sales business — the gross margin of this business is very high (about 70% gross profit from the service business), and high-margin parts and upgrade services clearly drive the overall gross margin.

At the same time, sales of new equipment is an “incremental business”, and installed base management is a “stock business” — the more equipment sold in the past, the larger the “base” that can be maintained and upgraded in the future, forming a long-term stable cash flow. As more and more Asmack equipment is put into customer factory operations, the installed base management business will also benefit from it.

According to the data, Asmack's second-quarter revenue was 9.33 billion euros. Among them, the installed base management business revenue reached 2.76 billion euros, accounting for nearly 30% of total revenue, exceeding management's previous forecasts and driving gross margin to 54%. The company expects third-quarter revenue to be between 11 billion and 12 billion euros, of which the installed base management business revenue will reach about 2.9 billion euros.

It is worth mentioning that Asmack will announce its third-quarter results before the US stock market this Wednesday. The Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer has become one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI infrastructure boom. Its extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines are essential devices for TSMC, Samsung, and Intel to produce the most advanced semiconductors. As semiconductor manufacturers expand production capacity for AI accelerators, high-bandwidth memory, and advanced logic chips, Asmack's US stock has accumulated a cumulative increase of more than 67% since this year. This latest financial report will allow investors to determine whether demand for the company's advanced lithography systems is still strong enough to support its AI premium valuation.

The market currently estimates that Asmack's third-quarter revenue will be around 11.66 billion euros, or about 13.2 billion US dollars; earnings per share are expected to be about 12.47 US dollars. While the market already has high expectations for its outstanding growth performance, revenue data is certainly important, order acquisition and 2027 performance guidance may have a greater impact on the post-performance trend.
