GE Vernova Inc. (GEV), headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is an energy company that provides various products and services that generate, transfer, orchestrate, convert, and store electricity. Valued at $267.6 billion by market cap, the company manufactures and services key infrastructure, including wind turbines, gas turbines, hydroelectric systems, and grid and electrification solutions. The energy equipment manufacturing and services company is expected to announce its fiscal third-quarter earnings for 2026 before the market opens on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Ahead of the event, analysts expect GE Vernova to report a profit of $4.09 per share on a diluted basis, up 149.4% from $1.64 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company beat the consensus estimates in two of the last four quarters while missing the forecast on two other occasions.
For the full year, analysts expect GE Vernova to report EPS of $15.03, down 15% from $17.69 in fiscal 2025. However, its EPS is expected to rise 60.7% year over year to $24.15 in fiscal 2027.
GEV stock has outperformed the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 16% gains over the past 52 weeks, with shares up 64.7% during this period. Similarly, it outperformed the State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLI) 10.4% rise over the same time frame.
GEV's outperformance reflects its dominant position in the Western heavy-duty gas turbine market, where duopoly control with Siemens Energy AG (SMEGF) is driving pricing power amid surging AI data center power demand. Its gas power backlog has grown to nearly 116 GW, fully booked through 2029 with bookings into 2030 to 2031 and prices up roughly 300% over three years, with about 20% of contracted equipment now tied directly to data centers including xAI's Colossus 1 and OpenAI's Stargate, plus Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL), Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) and Oracle Corporation (ORCL). Management expects at least 125 GW under contract by end-2026, scaling output to 20 GW in Q3 2026, 24 GW in 2028 and toward 30 GW by 2030, while electrification data-center orders already exceeded $5 billion YTD, more than double of fiscal 2025. With backlog on track to hit $200 billion early in 2027 and no direct exposure to hyperscaler capex or chip cycles, investors view GEV as a fundamental enabler of rising electricity demand from AI, electrification and grid infrastructure.
Analysts’ consensus opinion on GEV stock is bullish, with a “Strong Buy” rating overall. Out of 30 analysts covering the stock, 22 advise a “Strong Buy” rating, two suggest a “Moderate Buy,” five give a “Hold,” and one recommends a “Strong Sell.” GEV’s average analyst price target is $1,226.78, indicating a potential upside of 22.1% from the current levels.
