11:39 PM EDT, 10/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The International Monetary Fund raised its 2026 economic growth projection for the euro area in its latest World Economic Outlook report. The IMF said it now forecasts the eurozone's real gross domestic product to increase by 1.1% in 2026, above its 0.9% estimate in July. Meanwhile, the growth forecast for 2027 remained at 1.2%. The fund said its estimates for both years reflect the continued impact of elevated energy prices and "weak" consumer sentiment. On the inflation side, consumer price growth in the euro area is projected at 3.1% in 2026, then falling to 2.8% in 2027.
