According to a report by German News Agency on October 12, despite recent criticism of the approach, US President Trump did not show a will to put more pressure on Russia over the war in Ukraine, but instead hinted that Ukraine must make more efforts to reach a peace agreement. When asked by a reporter about Russia's attacks on energy facilities even though Trump himself announced a cease-fire, Trump said, “Well, I have to see the details because both sides have violated the rules.” When asked how he plans to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to abide by the cease-fire agreement, Trump said, “I think the situation is like this: if Putin wants to reach an agreement, we must also make Zelensky willing to reach an agreement.”
