11:54 AM EDT, 10/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The blue-chip Swiss Market Index concluded Tuesday's trading session 0.36% in the green as investors took stock of the latest company and economy-related updates that hit the market. The International Monetary Fund expects Switzerland's gross domestic product to grow 1.9% in 2026 then ease to 1.2% in 2027, according to its October World Economic Outlook report. The country's inflation rate is projected to stand at 0.7% in 2026 before ticking up to 0.8% in 2027. Meanwhile, the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs launched a consultation on amendments to the country's food law, including new labeling requirements for honey, as part of efforts to bolster consumer health protection. The consultation is set to run until Jan. 27, 2027. On the corporate front, Givaudan (GIVN.SW) saw its shares jump 9.43% as it delivered a year-over-year increase in third-quarter sales to 2.09 billion francs from 1.88 billion francs. For the first nine months of 2026, the Swiss flavors and fragrances group's annual sales were up 5.2% on a like-for-like basis to 5.89 billion francs. "We are pleased with the accelerating momentum in our sales growth in the first nine months of 2026, with sustained strong performance in our Fragrance & Beauty business and sequentially improving performance in Taste & Wellbeing, in line with expectations," Chief Executive Officer Christian Stammkoetter said. "With ongoing geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges, these results once again demonstrate the value that Givaudan's unique capabilities bring to all of our customers in supporting their growth ambitions across all product segments and geographies." The European Commission cleared the acquisition of joint control of Luxembourg-based Nestlé Waters by Nestlé (NESN.SW) and US private equity firm Platinum Equity Group, with the deal mainly related to the supply of bottled and packaged water and beverages. The Swiss consumer goods giant's stock added 1.20% at closing.
