With a market cap of $121.5 billion, S&P Global Inc. (SPGI) is a leading provider of credit ratings, benchmarks, analytics, and workflow solutions across global capital, commodity, and automotive markets. The company operates through five key segments: Market Intelligence, Ratings, Energy, Mobility, and S&P Dow Jones Indices.
The New York-based company is set to announce its fiscal Q3 2026 results before the market opens on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Ahead of this event, analysts forecast SPGI to report an adjusted EPS of $4.42, down 6.6% from $4.73 in the year-ago quarter. It has exceeded Wall Street's earnings estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing on another occasion.
For fiscal 2026, analysts expect the independent ratings and analytics provider to post an adjusted EPS of $17.72, a marginal decline from $17.83 in fiscal 2025. However, adjusted EPS is projected to grow 12.8% year-over-year to $19.98 in fiscal 2027.
Shares of S&P Global have declined 13.9% over the past 52 weeks, lagging behind both the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 17.3% gain and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLF) 4.3% return over the same period.
S&P Global shares fell 3.5% on Jul. 28 despite solid Q2 2026 results as the newly issued 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of $17.50 - $17.75 and revenue growth outlook of 5.9% - 7.9% raised concerns about slower growth following the Mobility spinoff. Q2 pro forma revenue rose 11% to $3.68 billion and adjusted EPS increased to $4.83, but growth was uneven across businesses, with Energy revenue up only 2% and Market Intelligence up 6%.
The July 1 Mobility spinoff also made the new pro forma results difficult to compare with prior periods and consensus estimates, adding uncertainty.
Analysts' consensus view on SPGI stock is bullish, with a "Strong Buy" rating overall. Among 25 analysts covering the stock, 20 recommend "Strong Buy," three "Moderate Buys," and two suggest "Hold." The average analyst price target is $519.87, suggesting a potential upside of 26% from current levels.
