Raymond James Financial has struggled to keep pace with the broader market over the past year, as early fiscal 2026 earnings weakness, interest-rate pressures, and acquisition-related expenses weighed on investor sentiment. The company’s ongoing expansion in asset management and capital markets has added to near-term costs, raising concerns about profitability even as it pursues long-term growth opportunities.

Adding to the pressure, shares of Raymond James Financial fell 3.3% on Sept. 22 as investors continued to retreat from financial stocks following the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hike of 25 basis points to 3.75%–4%, its first increase since 2023. The move intensified concerns about higher borrowing costs, weaker loan demand, and potential pressure on capital markets activity, creating another headwind for the financial services firm.

Analysts' consensus view on the stock is cautiously optimistic, with a "Moderate Buy" rating overall. Among 17 analysts covering the stock, five recommend "Strong Buy" and 12 "Holds." The average analyst price target for Raymond James Financial is $183.31, suggesting a potential upside of 16.9% from current levels.
