06:50 AM EDT, 10/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- An adviser to the European Union's Court of Justice recommended that ByteDance-owned TikTok's challenge to its gatekeeper designation under the bloc's Digital Markets Act be dismissed. "The General Court did not make the errors of law alleged by ByteDance in rejecting those arguments. In particular, the fact that users also use other social networks does not, in itself, show that TikTok is not an important gateway," Advocate General Andrea Biondi said in his opinion published Thursday. The General Court dismissed ByteDance's challenge to the European Commission's gatekeeper designation in July 2024. TikTok did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
