11:20 PM EDT, 10/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- UniCredit (UCG.MI) secured approval from the European Central Bank to grow its shareholding in Commerzbank (CBK.F) beyond the 30% threshold. The Italian lender said Thursday that the approval also allows it to further increase its ownership of the German bank without upper limits. UniCredit expects to complete the remaining conditions for its offer to own roughly 50% of the voting rights in Commerzbank around the end of 2026.
