12:32 AM EDT, 10/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- HSBC (HSBA.L) plans to expand its team of AI specialists in Hong Kong to 300 from 150 within two to three years, South China Morning Post reported Thursday, citing the bank's Asia and Middle East co-CEO David Liao. The announcement follows Hong Kong Monetary Authority's reported questioning of HSBC's decision to establish a global artificial intelligence center in Singapore rather than Hong Kong. Liao said HSBC will also launch the Hong Kong AI Institute in 2027, highlighting that it is the bank's home market.
