The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers Meeting will be held in Hong Kong for the first time next Tuesday to Wednesday (20-21). The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Finance and hosted by the SAR government for the first time. Regarding the symbolic significance of Hong Kong's first hosting, Chen Zhihua, Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Association, said that this fully reflects the international community's high level of trust in Hong Kong's financial strength, is the best opportunity to show the world Hong Kong's strong strength and unique advantages, and strongly strengthens Hong Kong's position as an international financial center.
Regarding attracting I&T and green companies to finance in Hong Kong, Chen Zhihua said that Hong Kong has a complete listing system (such as Chapter 18C) and a leading green finance ecosystem, and indicated that the industry should make good use of relevant opportunities to promote Hong Kong's one-stop financing advantages to science and technology innovation and green enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region to attract more high-quality enterprises to list in Hong Kong.
He mentioned that for connecting emerging economies to the mainland market, the securities industry can play a good role as a “super contact”, make good use of connectivity mechanisms to help APEC's emerging economies connect with the huge mainland market, and also provide professional risk management tools. He also pointed out that this conference focuses on digital and inclusive finance. The Hong Kong industry can actively explore cross-border fintech cooperation, deepen business connections with the Asia-Pacific industry, and open up a wider regional development space.
