The Zhitong Finance App learned that on October 16, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that the Tourism Hotspot Development Working Group, led by Deputy Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing, will gradually launch the next phase of four projects starting in the fourth quarter of 2026 to provide travelers with more diverse travel experiences unique to Hong Kong.

Cheuk Wing-hing said that as visitors to Hong Kong are increasingly seeking in-depth travel experiences, the authorities have been working hard to explore and integrate Hong Kong's potential tourism resources. By strengthening cross-departmental coordination and integrating the forces of all sectors of society, the nine tourism hotspots implemented in the first phase were very popular. Starting at the end of this year, the working group will launch tourist hotspots covering topics such as industrial brands, miniature art, religious culture and regional landscape in stages to show visitors the unique cultural heritage and cityscape of Hong Kong.

Details on the four projects are as follows:

(1) Phase II Hong Kong Industrial Brand Tourism

The Hong Kong Industrial Brand Travel Program has had an excellent response since its launch. The next phase will further introduce different types of brands to provide travelers with more diverse choices. The new projects include the Kowloon Bus Depot, the MTR Meet and See Railway Show, and the Hong Kong Production and R&D Base at Tong Ren Tang in Beijing. Travellers can visit relevant brand facilities and learn about the history of the brand and the production process of related products through group entry and exit. The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong will continue to be commissioned to handle reservations and coordination with local travel agents. Visit arrangements for related projects are expected to be rolled out one after another starting in the fourth quarter of this year.

(2) Hong Kong Microcities Fair

To enrich the tourist experience at the top of Victoria Peak, Hong Kong's Madame Tussauds will be reshaping the Hong Kong Miniature City Exhibition at Peak Tower starting in the fourth quarter of this year. The new exhibition will add new and exquisite miniature art exhibits to show Hong Kong's landmark architecture, authentic customs and lifestyle characteristics in three dimensions, so that visitors can enjoy the unique feeling of Hong Kong when visiting Victoria Peak.

(3) Promoting in-depth religious and cultural tours

In order to make good use of technology to enhance the visitors' visiting experience, the Chinese Temple Commission is continuously strengthening the digitization and cultural promotion measures for temples under its direct administration, including adding QR code display boards to temples and using mobile apps to allow visitors to learn about temple artifacts in an interactive format and exchange for cultural and creative souvenirs. The Government will also further study temples as the core, connecting historical buildings and monuments with cultural value in various districts to create an in-depth tour of temple culture.

(4) Tourism promotion projects in the Yuen Long Good Season Area

To promote the cultural style of integration between urban and rural areas in Yuen Long, the Yuen Long District Office will cooperate with regional groups to launch the Yuen Long Good Season Project to encourage visitors to explore the characteristics of the Yuen Long region according to different themes throughout the year (such as visiting the city center of Yuen Long during the birth of Tianhou to enjoy a grand festival and visit natural ecological attractions in the fall and winter to find autumn leaves and migratory birds). The project includes making tourist maps, setting up themed websites, and adding special information boards near downtown and rural landmarks. It is expected to be launched in stages from the fourth quarter of this year to the first quarter of next year.

The Working Group thanks the groups and brands involved in the above projects for their active participation and support. The Government will continue to promote cross-sector collaboration to encourage the industry to continue to develop tourism projects that show the different characteristics of Hong Kong, enrich the experience of visitors in Hong Kong, and attract them to stay in Hong Kong longer and visit again.
