10:02 AM EDT, 10/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- UK Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Lisa Nandy will not refer Daily Mail and General Trust's planned acquisition of Telegraph Media Group Holdings to a phase 2 investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority. Nandy noted Friday that the proposed merger between the media companies is no longer in progress, after Axel Springer outbid the Daily Mail owner for Telegraph Media Group. As a result, the 2026 public interest intervention notice and the public interest merger reference for the intended transaction ceased to take effect.
