10:21 AM EDT, 10/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- UK Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Lisa Nandy will not refer RedBird IMI's planned takeover of British news publisher Telegraph Media Group to a phase 2 investigation by the competition regulator. Nandy said Friday the decision was based on the merger no longer being in progress or under consideration, as Axel Springer completed its takeover of the Telegraph in June. RedBird IMI is a joint venture between US private equity firm RedBird Capital Partners and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates-based media group IMI.
