01:23 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Cosmo's (CMOPF.SW) rifamycin 1% topically acting gel met the primary endpoint of a mid-stage study evaluating the drug in patients with mildly to moderately active distal ulcerative colitis and ulcerative proctitis. During the phase 2 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 46.2% of patients treated with rifamycin 1% topically acting gel achieved clinical remission, compared with 14.3% in the placebo group, according to a Monday release. The drug was well tolerated. The Swiss-listed life sciences company is analyzing secondary and exploratory endpoints and will present full results at upcoming major medical meetings or congresses. Subsequently, it will discuss the results with the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency to inform the next stages of clinical development.
