05:54 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Whitbread's (WTB.L) board recommended that shareholders vote against Corvex Management's proposal to elect its director nominee at the general meeting on Nov. 9. The hospitality company said Monday that appointing the proposed director would result in a board member with "no clear plan of action, risk reopening and repeating work already comprehensively completed, and create significant distraction," at a time when the company already has a five-year plan in place to secure higher margins, cash flow, and returns over the medium- and longer-term. Corvex, the largest active shareholder in Whitbread with a 6.4% stake, requisitioned the general meeting to propose the election of its nominated board representative, following Whitbread's "decade of share price underperformance" and planned 2.5 billion pounds sterling of capital expenditure.
