The Zhitong Finance App learned that the State Post Office announced the operation of the postal industry from January to September 2026. In January-September, the postal industry's business revenue (excluding the direct operating income of the Postal Savings Bank) totaled 1389.31 billion yuan, an increase of 5.8% over the previous year. Among them, the total revenue from the express delivery business reached 1163.44 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year. In January-September, the postal industry completed a total of 164.13 billion deliveries, an increase of 3.7% over the previous year. Among them, the express delivery business completed a total of 151.3 billion units, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year.
In September, the postal industry's business revenue reached 158.86 billion yuan, an increase of 4.1% over the previous year. Among them, the express delivery business revenue reached 134.52 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6% over the previous year. In September, the postal industry's delivery business volume reached 18.66 billion units, an increase of 1.7% over the previous year. Among them, the express delivery business completed 17.23 billion units, an increase of 2.1% over the previous year.
In terms of business type, from January to September, the total express delivery business volume in the same city reached 11.0 billion units, a year-on-year decrease of 7.3%; the total number of offsite express delivery services reached 137.18 billion units, an increase of 5.4% over the previous year; and the international, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express delivery business volume totaled 3.12 billion units, an increase of 2.7% over the previous year.
From January to September, the postal mail business completed a total of 610 million items, up 25.1% year on year; package business completed a total of 235.14 million items, up 11.5% year on year; newspaper business completed a total of 11.76 billion copies, down 3.7% year on year; magazine business completed 420 million copies, down 5.0% year on year; and the exchange business completed a total of 961 thousand copies, down 34.8% year on year.
From January to September, express delivery services in the same city, offsite, international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan accounted for 7.3%, 90.7%, and 2.0% of the total express delivery business volume, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the share of express delivery business in the same city decreased by 0.9 percentage points, the share of offsite express delivery business increased by 1.0 percentage point, and the share of international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan business volume decreased by 0.1 percentage points.
From January to September, the share of express delivery business revenue in the East, Central and Western regions was 73.6%, 15.6%, and 10.8%, respectively, while the share of express delivery business volume was 68.8%, 20.8%, and 10.4%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the share of express delivery business revenue in the eastern region decreased by 0.2 percentage points, and the share of express delivery business volume decreased by 2.3 percentage points; the share of express delivery business revenue in the central region remained flat, and the share of express delivery business increased 1.2 percentage points; the share of express delivery business revenue in the western region increased 0.2 percentage points, and the share of express delivery business increased 1.1 percentage points.
From January to September, the express delivery business revenue brand concentration index CR8 was 86.7, down 0.2 from January to August; the express delivery business volume brand concentration index CR8 was 96.1, down 0.1 from January to August.
In the third quarter, the public satisfaction score for express delivery services was 85.3 points, and the 72-hour delivery rate for express delivery services in key regions of the country was 86.81%.
