09:41 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Union is looking at bolstering rules for insurers engaged in so-called unfunded significant risk transfers, or SRTs, extended to banks to safeguard financial stability, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing an expert opinion for the European Commission that it saw. The proposed measures include requiring insurers to meet additional solvency standards and at least two protection providers taking part in such transactions, the new outlet said. The proposal is part of a wider package aimed at easing access to securitized finance. The European Commission did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
