Industry Veteran Sean Thompson Named COO, Bringing More Than 30 Years of Affordable Housing Experience

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- United Apartment Group (UAG), a third-party multifamily property management company and an affiliate of Brixton Capital, has appointed Sean Thompson as Chief Operating Officer of Affordable Housing, a newly created executive position focused on strengthening operations, client services, and strategic growth across the company's affordable housing portfolio.

UAG has been active in affordable housing since 2000 and currently manages 101 affordable housing communities representing approximately 13,000 apartment homes. The addition of a dedicated COO reflects the company's commitment to building on its experience in this sector while delivering stronger operational performance and service to owners, investors, and residents.

In his new role, Thompson will oversee operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives across UAG's affordable housing portfolio. He will also identify opportunities to expand the division and enhance service to affordable housing owners and investors.

Extensive Experience in Affordable Housing

Thompson brings more than 30 years of real estate experience spanning affordable housing development, asset management, acquisitions, dispositions, finance, regulatory compliance, and property operations. His background combines institutional financial oversight with hands-on experience in construction, rehabilitation, and the preservation of affordable housing communities.

Before joining UAG, Thompson served as President of Asset Management at The Wentwood Companies, where he oversaw a complex portfolio of affordable housing assets representing both general partner ownership and limited partner investment interests. His responsibilities included aligning property operations and regulatory compliance with long-term financial objectives and investor expectations.

Throughout his career, Thompson has worked extensively with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and other affordable housing programs. His experience includes portfolio preservation, refinancing, strategic dispositions, distressed asset turnarounds, and the rehabilitation of aging housing communities.

"Affordable housing has been an important part of UAG's business for more than 25 years, and creating this position reflects our commitment to its future," said Tim Settles, Founder and CEO of United Apartment Group. "Sean brings extensive experience across affordable housing, from development and finance to compliance and day-to-day operations. His leadership will help us better serve our existing clients, strengthen property performance and position UAG for continued growth in this sector."
