RBB Bancorp stock inched 2.7% higher to US$26.13 into the close on Tuesday, a modest move for a quarter that landed with far more punch than the chart suggests. The bank just posted Q3 2026 earnings with basic earnings per share of US$0.75 on US$36.4m of revenue, alongside a trailing P/E of 9.9x that screens below both peer and industry averages. Traders reacted to the headline beat. Longer horizon investors are likely to focus less on the one day bump and more on the tension between strong trailing profit growth and forecasts that point to slightly softer earnings over the next few years.

Earnings only tell part of the story, and investors who care about valuation often focus on the cash being produced and what that stream might be worth. Based on RBB Bancorp's recent figures, a cash flow lens suggests the stock could be a notable 30% undervalued.
RBB Bancorp’s bullish pitch leans heavily on funding mix progress and a healthier loan machine.
"Remixing RBB Bancorp’s funding base toward core and noninterest-bearing deposits, supported by recent growth in retail balances and a higher mix of noninterest-bearing accounts, can reduce reliance on wholesale funding and support net interest margin and earnings."
Q3 puts real points on that scoreboard. Retail inflows of US$63m allowed wholesale funding to fall to less than 2% of deposits. Net interest margin reached 3.16%, helped by loan yields above 6% and a slightly lower cost of funds after redeeming subordinated debt. That combination supports the bullish funding thesis, though NIM still relied partly on temporary items such as an FHLB special dividend and nonaccrual recoveries.
On the risk side, the story hinges on whether credit and funding stay benign rather than turn into a drag.
"The current narrative assumes RBB Bancorp’s earnings reflect a relatively stable credit profile. However, the latest figures only show one quarter with essentially zero net charge offs, coverage of nonperforming loans at 184% and a single quarter of nonperforming assets at 1.02% of total assets, so any reversal in these credit metrics could lift provision expense and reduce net income and earnings."
Current results lean against that worry. Net charge offs were negligible at US$122k, nonperforming assets sat at 0.91% of assets, and allowance coverage reached 234% of NPAs. Provision expense was modest at US$0.5m, suggesting credit normalization is holding for now. However, one large LA OREO and a near 100% loan to deposit ratio keep the risk firmly on the radar.

RBB Bancorp just showed how a solid quarter and a modest share move can leave big questions about longer term earnings power. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market identifies their earnings potential.
