11:36 PM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- HSBC's (HSBA.L) UK arm told MT Newswires that its services have returned to normal following access issues linked to an outage at the cloud platform of Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google. The "power event" that affected Google Cloud's data centers in London affected several banks, including HSBC, BBC News reported Tuesday. The platform said most of its services have already been recovered, but the issue is still affecting "a very small number of customers." The report noted that British digital bank Revolut, private investment firm Halifax, lender Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY.L), and Geopost's DPD all raised related concerns earlier in the day. A spokesperson for HSBC UK said it is still closely monitoring the situation following the earlier access issues.
