China Tower stock has been under quiet pressure, down about 3% over the past week and almost 9% over three months heading into yesterday’s HK$8.95 close. Then Q3 2026 numbers landed, and the headline was not the top line. The real story sat in profitability.
Net income excluding extra items came in at RMB 3,328m on revenue of RMB 23,306m, keeping the trailing net margin around 14%. For a tower landlord that relies on long contracts and heavy capital spending, that level of earnings resilience matters far more than a soft share price tape over a few volatile weeks.

China Tower’s bullish story hinges on new digital and energy lines doing more than just filling a gap. They are supposed to reshape how the whole business earns money.
"Bullish analysts expect China Tower to turn its growing Smart Tower and Energy businesses into a stronger second pillar alongside TSP towers, supported by rising Two Wings revenue and broader digital and energy service use cases."
The latest numbers partly back that ambition. In H1 2026, Smart Tower revenue of RMB 5.33b and Energy revenue of RMB 2.59b, both growing double digit, helped offset softer TSP income. Q3 2026 net profit rose 12.8% year on year while revenue fell 5.7%. That gap indicates mix and cost levers are already lifting profit quality, even though Two Wings remain smaller than the tower base.

Bearish investors argue that the heavy lifting must come from the newer Smart Tower and Energy lines plus cost discipline if China Tower is going to cover weaker towers and still fund richer dividends.
"The main thing that has to go right is that the growing Two Wings and DAS businesses, together with tighter CapEx and lower depreciation, continue to offset tower revenue stagnation and cash flow volatility so that China Tower can fund its higher dividends and diversification agenda."
Q3 earnings show net profit and margin holding up, yet earlier H1 2026 data still point to EBITDA pressure, weaker operating cash flow and a free cash outflow alongside a higher payout. The latest profit print helps, but it does not yet clear the cash flow and dividend sustainability hurdle set by that bearish view.
