03:09 AM EDT, 10/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, or Ofgem, approved an agreement between Interconnector Ltd. and National Gas Transmission plc to reinforce gas import capability through the Great Britain-Belgium interconnector. The regulator also launched a consultation process for the required license changes and financial instruments to enable National Gas to recover the costs of arrangements to maintain gas import capability through the undersea pipeline between Great Britain and Europe. The move is expected to address a reduction in gas import capability through Great Britain's continental interconnectors in recent years, mainly due to reduced commercial incentives for imports from Europe and technical reductions in interconnector capacity. The expected cost is less than 0.10 pound sterling per month per domestic gas customer over five years. The consultation period ends on Nov. 20.
