06:05 AM EDT, 10/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's Competition and Markets Authority designated Aldi and Lidl as large grocery retailers under the country's Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010. The designation, covering Aldi, Lidl GB and Lidl NI, seeks to prevent designated grocery retailers from using restrictive land agreements to block rivals from opening stores nearby, according to a Thursday notice. Marks and Spencer Group (MKS.L); J Sainsbury (SBRY.L), d/b/a Sainsbury's; and Tesco (TSCO.L) are among the companies that have been subject to the order since 2010.
