The Zhitong Finance App learned that the China Charging Alliance announced the operation status of the national electric vehicle charging and switching infrastructure in September 2026. By the end of September 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (guns) in China reached 24.777 million, an increase of 37.2% over the previous year. Among them, there were 5.207 million public charging facilities (guns), up 16.3% year on year. The total rated power reached 266 million kilowatts, and the average power of a single gun was about 5110 kilowatts; private charging facilities (guns) were 19.57 million, an increase of 44.0% year on year, and the reported installed capacity of private charging facilities reached 167 million kilovolts.
According to the operation of public charging infrastructure in provinces, regions, and cities, the proportion of public charging facilities built in the top 10 regions of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Shandong, Shanghai, Henan, Anhui, Sichuan, and Hebei reached 66.1%. The country's charging power is mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Henan, Shaanxi and other provinces. The electricity flow is mainly buses and passenger cars, and other types of vehicles such as sanitation logistics vehicles and taxis account for a relatively small share. In September 2026, the country's total charging capacity was 12.46 billion kilowatts, a decrease of 0.3 million kilowatts from the previous month, an increase of 62.3% year-on-year, and a decrease of 0.3% month-on-month.
Overall operation of charging infrastructure. From January to September 2026, the number of charging infrastructures increased by 4.685 million, a year-on-year decrease of 10.7%. Among them, the number of public charging facilities increased by 490,000, a year-on-year decrease of 45.4%, and the number of private charging facilities increased by 4.195,000, a year-on-year decrease of 3.5%. By the end of September 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (guns) in China reached 24.777 million, an increase of 37.2% over the previous year.
In comparison between charging infrastructure and electric vehicles, from January to September 2026, charging infrastructure increased by 4.685 million units, domestic sales of new energy vehicles were 8.466 million units, and charging infrastructure and new energy vehicles continued to grow rapidly. The incremental ratio of pile vehicles is 1:1.8, and the construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
