Selling pressure on the French bond market has intensified, and protests may break out again in the country over the weekend. The yield premium on French 10-year treasury bonds over German treasury bonds once increased by 19 basis points to 1.78 percentage points, the highest since the worst period of the European debt crisis at the end of 2011. All types of French assets have declined across the board, and even short-term treasury bonds have not escaped the sell-off. The 2-year Treasury yield rose 11 basis points to 3.86%, which is an extreme single-day fluctuation for any developed country. France's CAC 40 index fell more than 1%.
