Element Solutions stock took a hit, dropping about 9% to US$33.11 after posting Q3 2026 results that delivered record revenue and adjusted earnings power. Traders focused on the red on the screen. Longer term investors will likely be looking at something else entirely.
The key headline is simple. This specialty chemicals group just turned in its strongest quarter yet on revenue, adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EPS, while also lifting full year adjusted EBITDA guidance to roughly US$720 million. The price move says disappointment. The earnings print tells a more complicated story that plays out over several years, not several hours.

The bullish story rests on Element Solutions successfully tilting the business toward higher value electronics tied to data centers and AI.
"The shift in Element Solutions' portfolio toward electronics end markets, with more than 70% of revenue now from electronics and roughly 75% of that sold into B2B and enterprise customers, reduces reliance on mobile devices at about 5% of total revenue and can support more stable, higher value revenue and margin mix over time."
Q3 delivers evidence for that ambition. Electronics organic growth of 18%, semiconductor solutions at 24%, and margin expansion to 28.2% ex metals show the mix tilting toward the targeted electronics engine while overall EBITDA and EPS hit record levels.
The darker side of the thesis questions whether Element Solutions can absorb input inflation while executing multiple complex ramps at once.
"Raw material and logistics cost inflation, especially in oil linked inputs, could persist or intensify and outpace Element Solutions' pricing power, which would pressure gross margins and limit the ability to sustain current adjusted EBITDA levels."
Current figures cut against that worry. Adjusted EBITDA margin ex pass through metals widened by 50 bps, and guidance for about US$720 million of adjusted EBITDA implies pricing and mix are offsetting cost pressure, even as Micromax, EFC and Kuprion investments lift capex and keep net leverage near 2.7x.
