Konecranes just released its Q3 2026 report into a market that has been drifting lower on the stock for weeks, with the share price down about 11% over the past month and closing today at €26.44. The headline numbers are clear. Revenue reached €1,102.2m and basic earnings per share came in at €0.50, both solid figures for a capital equipment cycle that still looks patchy in places.
The key issue is sentiment. Short term traders have leaned into the recent slide, while the reported quarter shows firm profit delivery and a business that, on these figures, appears more resilient than the share price performance implies.
Impressed by Konecranes delivering firm earnings while the share price slides and want balance sheet strength to go with that kind of resilience? Earnings tell you what Konecranes reported this quarter, but investors who care about what they are paying for the business often focus on the cash that actually comes through the door. Based on Konecranes' recent cash flows alone, the stock could be a dramatic 49% undervalued.
The bullish pitch around Konecranes rests on more than a big backlog. It leans on a shift toward steadier work and stronger conversion of projects into euros.
"The main requirement is that Konecranes converts its strong 2026 order intake and higher work-in-progress inventories into timely project deliveries and cash generation, without sustained margin pressure."
Q3 goes some way toward that. Port Solutions deliveries picked up, group sales rose in comparable currencies and EBITDA margin of 15.6% stayed close to last year even with smaller one off items. Cash flow improved and net cash reached about €100m, although working capital is still elevated and above the internal 10% target.

"Bearish analysts expect Konecranes to face ongoing pressure on core product volumes, as underlying sales in comparable currencies declined in early 2026 and delivery delays, pricing headwinds and foreign exchange effects keep execution risks and earnings volatility elevated."
Konecranes just posted double digit sales growth helped by Port Solutions deliveries, yet the pressure point in this bearish line shows up in Industrial Equipment. Sales there slipped slightly and margins fell from an exceptional prior level because of lower volumes and internal issues. Order intake softness in large ports and mixed demand signals suggest the volume question is not closed. Execution improved, but the milestone of clearly reaccelerating core equipment volumes is not met in this quarter.
Konecranes just showed that sentiment and reported earnings can move on different tracks. The real opportunity sits in finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market fully reprices them.
