What Clear Secure Doubters Overlooked

Listen to the news

The Veterans Affairs pilot that plugged Clear Secure’s CLEAR1 identity checks into VA.gov put a very specific government use case on the table, far from the airport lines where most investors first noticed this business. For Clear Secure shareholders, the return over the past year was 47.5%, including dividends. If you were deciding whether to buy on 23 October 2025, what had to be true about demand for these kinds of contracts for that outcome to look reasonable?

On Simply Wall St, a Narrative is an investor's thesis written down: the reasoning, plus the numbers it rests on. Run those numbers and you get an estimated Fair Value.

The Two Clear Secure Stories Investors Had To Weigh

The shares cost US$32.42 at the start of the period, so any thesis on Clear Secure had to explain why that was sensible in light of the stories under consideration.

The bullish narrative put fair value at US$35.22, based on revenue growth of 9.9% and a profit margin assumption of 13.5% over a three-year period.

The bearish view anchored fair value at US$23.62 and focused on rising regulatory and privacy pressure that could increase cybersecurity and compliance costs.

What The Results Changed For The Clear Secure Story

The VA.gov pilot for CLEAR1 put Clear Secure’s government and enterprise identity pitch to the test and lined up with the bullish case that assumed growing demand for non airport contracts. Reported figures gave more context. Revenue reached US$277.8m in Q2 2026 versus US$219.5m a year earlier, while net margin moved from 11.3% to 18.0%. The evidence supported the optimistic case rather than the cautious one.

The lesson is simple. When a thesis leans on new contract types, do not just track headlines. Watch whether those deals show up in segment revenue and, over time, in the direction of net margin.

What Clear Secure’s 1 Year Run Already Prices In

Clear Secure trades at US$45.38 after a 47.5% gain over the past year. The selected Narrative’s Fair Value sits above the current price, based on confidence in identity contracts beyond airports and the CLEAR1 and GovTech push.

From that perspective, today’s buyer must judge whether current pricing fully reflects wider federal and enterprise adoption of CLEAR1.

"Acceleration in the CLEAR1 B2B platform, with 30% year over year member growth, over 50% sequential growth in new customer signings and pipeline, and the Amazon Connect integration plus the preferred partnership with a federal systems integrator, opens scope for enterprise and government identity contracts to become a larger share of total revenue at attractive contribution margins."

Looking Past Clear Secure

Clear Secure helps people prove who they are quickly. That still leaves a harder problem.

Large institutions need to stitch together sensitive data, keep it secure, and let approved users act on it.

One software provider focuses on that operating layer, wiring complex databases into tools decision makers actually use.

Its platforms build in audit trails, access controls, and compliance checks for high risk environments.

If more critical systems embed this type of AI-ready backbone, identity checks like Clear Secure’s could be only one visible surface.
