The 2.18-point spread between Technology and Communication Services is around half again as large as the biggest move among the major averages, which are up between 0.50% and 1.36%. Those gains mask a session where leadership is concentrated in Technology, Consumer Discretionary and Industrials. Defensives are not keeping pace — Utilities sits third from the bottom and Consumer Staples is second from the bottom — so the advance is concentrated rather than broad.
