05:10 AM EDT, 10/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Finnish forest industry company Stora Enso (STEAV.HE, STERV.HE) partnered with China-based Shanshan Technology to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable battery materials. The partners will build a demonstration line for lignin-based hard carbon battery anode materials derived from renewable wood-based feedstock at Shanshan's plant in Ningbo, China, according to a Tuesday release. Stora Enso will provide its expertise in renewable materials and lignin-based innovation, while Shanshan will contribute its industrial capabilities and anode materials expertise, addressing fast-growing interest in sodium-ion battery technologies and rising demand for sustainable anode materials.
