05:43 AM EDT, 10/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets blocked Zwanenberg Benelux's plan to acquire consumer goods giant Unilever's (ULVR.L, UNA.AS) Dutch soup and sausage brand, Unox, citing competition concerns. The regulator said Tuesday the deal would leave the food manufacturer as virtually the only major supplier of smoked and cooked sausages to Dutch supermarkets and give it a strong position in non-perishable soups. Zwanenberg would hold market shares of 60% to 85% in the affected sausage and soup categories, potentially allowing it to use its stronger bargaining position to raise prices, the regulator added. Zwanenberg and Unilever did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
