ST LOUIS (AP) — ST LOUIS (AP) — Centene Corp. (CNC) on Tuesday reported a loss of $71 million in its third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the St. Louis-based company said it had a loss of 14 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 58 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 7 cents per share.

The healthcare company posted revenue of $50.65 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $47.06 billion.

Centene expects full-year revenue in the range of $196.5 billion to $200.5 billion.
